Music Is Mental Media (MIMM) welcomes writers, photographers, reviewers, interviewers, researchers and creators with a real question, a point of view and respect for what music can become in people’s lives.
It starts with music. It is specific rather than generic, has a point of view or a real question, and understands that songs can change meaning in listeners’ lives. It treats artists fairly without treating artist intention as the only meaning. It values discovery regardless of popularity, takes live experience seriously, and uses science accurately when science belongs in the story.
Attributed statements need traceable sources. Direct quotes must be accurate. Prefer primary creator sources, official interviews, official documents, original research and reliable first-party material where available. Research claims need support.
Source artist interviews. Do not paraphrase a creator explanation beyond what the source supports. The artist can explain what they made; a story can still make room for what it became.
When a story substantively analyses a song, recording, performance, cover or score, an authorized primary-media embed may help the reader understand the argument. Incidental references do not need an embed.
Never fabricate attending a show, meeting an artist, remembering an event or hearing a performance in person. First-person work must come from the actual contributor’s experience.
Submit only media you created, own, are licensed to use or have clear permission to publish. Credits and rights information must be accurate.
MIMM is research-aware and mental-health-aware, not a medical service. Avoid diagnosis, treatment promises, unsupported therapeutic claims and turning correlation into causation.
Accepted outside contributors may receive a public Guest Contributor byline without needing a WordPress account.
